Residential Demolition – North Ryde, NSW 2113
Located in Sydney’s north west, The City of Ryde one of the largest regions in NSW. Spanning from Hornsby Shire and the Ku-ring-gai Council area in the north, Willoughby City, the Lane Cove River and Hunters Hill Municipality in the east through to The Parramatta River in the south and Parramatta City in the west. The entirety of The City Of Ryde encompasses more than fifteen individual suburbs including Chatswood, Denistone, Ryde, Eastwood, Gladesville, Macquarie, Marsfield, Meadowbank, Melrose Park, Putney and Tennyson Point just to name a few.
Following it’s early settlement, North Ryde remained mostly rural up until the 1950s when the NSW state government purchased and subdivided the majority for use as Defence Homes and public housing. This rapid development continued through to the 1960s which saw many of the older colonial period homes and buildings demolished to make way for modern development like this particular single story red brick veneer home built sometime during the late 60s.
In a fashion not dissimilar to these times gone past, The City of Ryde is once again experiencing a boom in housing with the popularity of demolition and construction shown with the sheer amount of development in the region. Although structurally sound, this property was quite worn out from it’s 50 or so years of existence, the cost of renovations to bring the house up to modern living standards exceeded the owners budget and so opted to demolish and start fresh with a new modern style home utilising modern codes of building standards and engineering. With construction estimated to be completed by early 2017, we can’t wait to see how this sloped block on a quite street turns out!
